Abstract:To study the mechanical properties of silty clay in the Danshan River embankment in Panyu,a multi-field coupled simulation was performed using the discrete element module in COMSOL,based on the hydro -thermo -mechanical coupling equation. After validating the reliability of the numerical results, the mechanical characteristics of soil samples were explored.Neither the temperature field nor the osmotic pressure field affects the strain evolution of the samples. As the temperature increases, the load-bearing capacity of the sample first increases and then decreases, with a turning point at 100°C.When the infiltration water pressure increases, the bearing capacity decreases, and this reduction becomes more pronounced when the water pressure exceeds 20 kPa.A higher sand content leads to a decrease in the sample’s elastic deformation ability, while the bearing capacity increases. This paper provides a reference for the mechanical characteristics and numerical design of soil under hydro-thermo-mechanical coupling.
