Abstract:The Shangbao terraces of Chongyi county is well known and was listed into the Global Important Agri-Cultural Heritage(GIAHS)in 2018. Since then, local tourism development came to a booming stage. Taking a typical small catchment in the tourism core area as the study object, an auto-monitoring system was set up to record rainfall, runoff, sediment in 2020. Results showed that the rainfall mostly took place from May to September, affected by the reginal temperature. The runoff as well as the sediment were distributed unevenly within a year, influenced by the rainfall and climate. Furthermore, a typical individual rainfall analysis showed that rainfall-runoff-sediment relations did not demonstrate a regular response. Results also significantly revealed that the erosion module of the catchment increased to 7000 t/km2, which was much higher than the average module of Chongyi county. Therefore, the study is helpful to provide scientific basis for improving the harmonious development of tourism and protection for the terraces.
